Our Story

We started writing songs to help our own son with his spelling. He brought home a list of words from primary school that were tricky to sound out - words like "because", "could", and "school". We first wrote him a song to remember "because", and it worked! We set three rules for ourselves - the songs had to be fun, funny, and as catchy as possible. By the end of the week, even our 3 year old was spelling "because" (not entirely useful at the time, but it was an impressive party trick!) Since then we have continued to write sight word songs, releasing new music video regularly over at Youtube.com/@spellodies

Here's the first song we wrote for the word "because." It won the APRA BEST CHILDREN'S SONG Award in 2024!
